Machree is an Irish term of endearment meaning "my heart" or "my love."  TurnSole is a group of flowers that turn toward the sun.  In searching for a name for our photography business, we had two goals.  First, we wanted to incorporate our initials (M, T, S).  Second, we wanted to select a name that reflects our passion for photography and our appreciation for light, without which our photos would not be possible.  What better words than "Our love turns to the sun."  The sun provides the light for doing what we love to do, which led us to "Machree TurnSole Photos."

Terry's first photography interests came in the late 1960s while in the Air Force.  He dabbled in photography, but chose a career in Environmental  Engineering.  His career gave him a great appreciation for the environment.  Mary's first photography interests came from spending many hours in the darkroom with her father, who was an accomplished photographer.  Together, Terry and Mary formed a photography bond while honeymooning in Bermuda in the early 1990s.  Terry and Mary are avid gardeners.  Gardening provides a means and inspiration to become very involved in  photography.
